As American society secularizes and Biblical illiteracy grows, Christians are finding it increasingly difficult to explain basic and especially controversial Biblical truths to their neighbors. In this interview, I sat down with Dr. Mark Eckel, a professor and apologist, to discuss this dilemma and ways to solve it.
Dr. Eckel is an associate faculty member at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI; pronounced ooey-pooey (hey, no juvenile snickering out there!)) and President of The Comenius Institute, a Christian study center that serves public universities.
Dr. Eckel is routinely published in academic journals (including a recent paper about neuro-diversity; he explains in the episode how this is relevant to cultural apologetics) and has lectured at numerous universities, seminaries and colleges, including Cedarville University. In sum, Dr. Eckel’s bio is impressive, but what I appreciate most about Mark is his heart to build one-on-one relationships with students and faculty at public universities in an effort to introduce them to Jesus or strengthen their relationship with Him.
In this episode, Dr. Eckel explains how he translates Biblical truth to students and faculty on a secular college campus and provides practical tips and ideas on how we can do the same in our sphere of influence.
