The COVID-19 crisis has raised numerous concerns about religious liberty, including the constitutionality of Stay-at-Home Orders as applied to churches, the categorization of churches as “non-essential” and prohibitions on drive-in services. In this episode, I joined Josh Teis and Drew Polanycia on the Idea Talks Podcast to discuss concerns about religious liberty during the pandemic.
The Idea Talks Podcast focuses on big ideas in life, ministry, and leadership and is produced by Idea Network. Josh Teis is a return guest to the podcast, pastors Southern Hills Baptist Church in Las Vegas, Nevada, and recently addressed the importance of in-person services (Hebrews 10:25) and religious liberty in this article: “Church – Some Assembly Required.”
We focused on four questions in this interview:
- Is the church under persecution?
- What are the most concerning developments thus far?
- What should church leaders be looking for/be aware of?
- When should the church reconvene?
