As I have talked with government officials and church leaders over the last few weeks, I have repeatedly heard this statement: “I’m exhausted.” Since March, we have experienced a number of overlapping crises that have pushed many Americans to a point of frustrated exhaustion, and there is no finish line in sight. So, as followers of Jesus, how do we keep going when we don’t know the end date of COVID-19 closures and complications? How can we be an example of hopeful confidence, strength and calm in the midst of frustration and fear? Here are four keys from Scripture for doing just that—enduring in an exhausted age.

Key Takeaways

  • My epic fail at a Spartan race and why I hate (yes, I just used that word) burpees.
  • Why our cultural moment is an especially exhausting one.
  • 4 keys to endurance from 2 Corinthians 4:5-18.
  • Scripture doesn’t tell us to look to the finish line; rather, it tells us to look to the Finisher.
  • Summary: Don’t grit your teeth. Get with Jesus.
