It’s going down in California. In one corner, we have an austere looking JMac (John MacArthur) in a suit and tie; and, in the other, we have a very trendy looking Gavin Newsom in a hipster field jacket! So, let’s get ready to ruuuumblllle! Ok, perhaps I have been staring at and thinking about this church/state conflict for far too long. And, that is why I brought on our Senior Counsel Larry Crain and Brian Schuette to help me think through some practical and legal lessons from recent events in the Golden State.
As you are probably aware by now and as I have detailed in a recent blog post here, John MacArthur and Grace Community Church (along with other churches) are gathering for in-person worship in defiance of public health orders. A local judge recently issued an injunction against Grace Community Church, but GCC met anyway on Sunday.
So, what are the key legal and practical lessons from the shutdown showdown in California? That’s the topic of conversation in this episode.
