In 2020, we witnessed at least four key crises or events: the global pandemic; the corresponding lockdowns and other public health measures; a divisive presidential election and racial tension following the deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, George Floyd and Breonna Taylor. And these crises have followed us into 2021.

Over the last year, I have had the privilege of meeting and working with Dr. Charles Ware, the President of Crossroads Bible College and the founder of Grace Relations, a network that exists to equip pastors and other Christian workers to engage in meaningful conversation and collaboration to bridge racial, ethnic, and cultural divides.

Dr. Charles Ware co-authored the book One Blood: The Biblical Answer to Racism with Ken Ham from Answers in Genesis and has produced a 6-video series on Grace Relations, which is available on Answers TV. Here’s the description: “…Typical ‘Race Relations’ efforts focus on friction, which is a symptom of a much bigger issue. Decades of secular Race Relations efforts have typically resulted in more heat than change. ‘Grace Relations’ focuses on the heart and promotes conversations that ease friction and lead to collaborations; people of different skin tones and social backgrounds working together toward the common goal of biblical change that demonstrates love for God and our neighbor. Grace based collaborations are guided by scripture, change the heart, and engage the culture. ‘Grace Relations’ conforms to God’s written word and transforms culture! The ultimate goal is that we know and grow in our love for God, and our neighbor.”

In this interview, we discussed Dr. Ware’s fascinating but troubling journey to ministry in this space, his faithful work on racial unity & justice over the years and his 6-step plan for impacting this issue in 2021.
