This is part 4 of a 4-part series on engaging Gen Z.
Series Description:
Here’s a key question I hear all the time: “How do we reach the next generation?” This is an urgent question as Barna reports that atheism has doubled among Gen Z. But it is also a personal question because Christians, including ministry leaders, recognize that their own children or grandchildren are digital natives and experience the world differently than former generations. So, how can we effectively engage Gen Z? This is certainly a joint project that we are all working on, but here are some ideas from individuals with practical experience in engaging Gen Z.
In Part 1, Anna Gosman covered generational distinctives and effective teaching methods. In Part 2, Senator John Crane shared insights on worldview formation. In Part 3, I walked through how to encourage and equip members of Gez to live out their faith in their communities. And, in Part 4, Ben Schettler shares his thoughts on effective evangelism and key apologetics questions.
Ben is the President and Co-founder of The Center for Truth in Love. Since 2002, Ben has been preaching and teaching the Bible’s truth. He travels about 100,000 miles a year keynoting at conferences, preaching for churches, hosting Truth in Love Seminars, and holding speaking series for Christian schools.
Key Takeaways:
- Why human identity is a key evangelism/apologetics issue for Gen Z.
- Seven key deficits Gen Z faces.
- How to respond to the fact v. feeling question.
- Two key questions for conversations: (1) What do you mean by that? and (2) How did you come to that conclusion?
- Remarkable stories about members of Gen Z coming to Christ and a recent debate with an atheist.
