When I am at the Indiana statehouse, I often hear about the “4 C’s of Decisionmaking” from a broad range of public officials. I have found these principles helpful in navigating competing demands in high-pressure situations to make wise and effective decisions. Because of this, I thought I would pass them along as many leaders from the home to the church to the public square have to deal with such tensions in their life and leadership.
In this episode, I discuss these “4 C’s” as well as effective political persuasion with Senator John Crane, the originator of the 4 C’s, a former pastor, a public servant, and a Board Member of the Colson Center for Biblical Worldview.
In this episode, we discuss:
- The 4 C’s of Effective Decisionmaking, i.e. how to practically balance competing priorities and make wise and effective decisions consistent in high-pressure situations.
- How Sen. Crane practices the 4 C’s while representing approximately 135,000 people.
- The art of political persuasion and what many Christians miss in their advocacy in the public square.
- An explanation of “golden rule diplomacy.”
- The importance of Biblical worldview and discipleship in a quickly changing culture.
- How Sen. Crane practically lives out his faith while serving in the legislature.
- How Christian legislators are navigating the potential sea-change in abortion jurisprudence.
