When I speak in churches on Christian citizenship, I generally preach on a Sunday morning about Biblical principles on government and set out some Dave Ramsey -like steps for applying those principles in the American context. My goal is to provide timeless Biblical principles so Christians can apply those principles according to their conscience and in their sphere of influence. I believe that is the most important thing I can do in a 30-35 minute sermon to a congregation I have not met before.
That said, I do recognize that such a sermon leaves some questions about application of those Biblical principles to the most recent developments and controversies in public life. So, I also offer churches a Q&A session later on the same day if members/attendees want to dig deeper into this aspect of following Jesus in an increasingly secular society.
In this episode, you will hear a recent Q&A session with a church that gave us permission to play the audio. I wrestled back and forth on playing this because my first goal in speaking at a church is to help that local church, but the questions at this particular Q&A were especially thoughtful and representative of the questions I often receive. So, we decided to play this for the benefit of the audience as a whole.
Also, we would welcome your questions about Christian citizenship! Depending on the interest, I may start a segment on podcast episodes or dedicate an episode from time to time to listener questions. If you have a question, please send that to us at info@goodcitizen.us. And, if your church is interested in the Good Citizen Tour (described above), you can find more information at https://www.goodcitizen.us/speaking/.
