Since the Dobbs decision overturned Roe v. Wade, the issue of abortion has been front and center in American public life. Many churches have encouraged Christians to (1) support the pre-political, Biblical belief of the sanctity of life and to (2) serve women and children in crisis.
Here are ten practical, strategic ways to serve women and children in your community. Full descriptions in the episode and relevant links below. Though many of these links are to Indiana-specific ministries, similar ministries exist throughout the United States.
- Pray
- Support your local pregnancy care center.
- Support or start a ministry that cares for abused or abandoned pregnant women (and especially teens).
- Support or start a ministry that provides support to families in crisis (and prevents the state’s involvement).
- Provide physical needs to families to avoid removal of children.
- Support foster families by building community around them.
- Participate in the foster care system.
- Adopt or support those that do. Also, support the safe haven baby box program.
- Advocate for life.
- Advocate for care and treatment for mothers and children.
