Are we loving our neighbors well if we say nothing about the public policy issues that profoundly impact their lives, families, and faith? This will always be a question affected by conscience and calling, but I believe the general answer is no. We are citizens in a participatory democracy with authority and, therefore, responsibility. Therefore, we should fully engage in public policy and elections. Here are some thoughts on how to do this well in an increasingly polarized political landscape.
