As our culture secularizes, Christian ideas are being pushed to the margins. And, if Christian ideas are being pushed to the margins, then those that hold those beliefs are bound to be affected as well. So, how should we respond to the sidelining of Christian truth claims? In this episode, I interview return guest Dr. Mark Eckel about marginalization and how to respond to it.
Dr. Mark Eckel (MA, English, ThM, Old Testament, PhD, Social Science) is President of The Comenius Institute, a 501(c)(3) non-profit and teaches undergrad through doctoral classes for Indiana University, Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI), Capital Seminary, and Indianapolis Theological Seminary. 10 principles for responding to marginalization:
- Small groups combined create a strong bond.
- Courage is knowing who or what to fear.
- Spreading the word makes a louder voice.
- Patience is a strategy.
- Find goodwill allies, one in spirit if not in doctrine.
- Grieving with others is better than grieving alone.
- Create spaces of shared purpose.
- Digital friends are great, local friends are greater.
- Dissent against what matters most.
- Deep roots of belief weather storms.
